PLAIN SIGHT

WHO WE ARE?
ABOUT US
Plain Sight: After Harm, Before Repair is a digital archive exploring harm, inheritance, accountability, and repair.

Created by Black Girl Narrative in partnership with Liberation Ventures, the archive brings together contributor stories, public reflections, audio, artwork, and collective memory to examine what happens when harm is carried across generations without meaningful repair.

The archive moves through four questions:

What was taken?

What stayed with us?

What was never repaired?

What would repair require?

Rather than offering a complete history or a single answer, Plain Sight creates space for witnessing, reflection, and conversation. It looks at the ways harm can move through families, communities, institutions, policies, and places—and asks what responsibility remains when the consequences are still being carried.

This archive is intentionally unfinished.

As new voices, reflections, memories, and experiences are contributed, the record will continue to grow.

Why This Archive Exists

Archives do more than preserve the past. They influence what gets remembered, whose experiences are recorded, and what future generations are able to understand.

‍Plain Sight exists to make space for stories and experiences that are often left undocumented—to listen to what communities continue to carry, to acknowledge what remains unresolved, and to ask what meaningful repair could look like.

The archive is a record.
The questions remain open.

Some harms remain visible. Others remain hidden in plain sight.
